12. meeting of the Hungarian-Flemish Joint Committee
The twelfth meeting of the Hungarian-Flemish Joint Committee took place on 13 June at the Errera House in Brussels, where Mr. Miklós Lengyel, Deputy State Secretary for Training, Scholarships and Science Diplomacy and Julie Bynens, Secretary General of the Flemish Chancellery and Foreign Affairs Office signed the working plan for the years 2024-2026. The meeting was also attended by H.E. Ambassador dr. Tamás Iván Kovács and Dorottya Bősze, Head of Commercial Section.
Concert series of the Budapest Festival Orchestra in Brugge
The Budapest Festival Orchestra performed a series of concerts at the Concertgebouw in Bruges from 5 to 7 June, featuring works by Handel, Stravinsky and Brahms, conducted by Iván Fischer. H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács attended the concert on 7 June, after which he invited the members of the Budapest Festival Orchestra for a short reception.
Meeting with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of European Union Affairs
Mr. Barna Pál Zsigmond, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of European Union Affairs and Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács visited the building of the Hungarian House, which will host the flagship programs of the Hungarian EU Presidency in Brussels.
Ambassador's visit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg
During his visit to Luxembourg, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács met with H.E. Gilles Roth, Finance Minister of Luxembourg, and Ms. Yasuko Muller, Diplomatic Advisor and EU Sherpa of Prime Minister Luc Frieden. They discussed, among other topics, the activities of our Embassy in Luxembourg, our diplomatic centennial, as well as the coinciding EU Presidencies.
The Day of the Hungarian Defence - reception at the Embassy
21 May is the Day of Hungarian Defence, when we commemorate the formation of the independent Hungarian army in May 1848 and the recapture of the country's capital and Buda Castle from the Austrian imperial troops on 21 May 1849. On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador Iván dr. Tamás Kovács and Brigadier General László Kálló, Attaché for Defence, Military and Air Affairs, received at the Embassy the Heads of Mission accredited to Brussels and members of the diplomatic and military attaché corps.
