On the occasion of the Hungarian National Defence Day, a reception was held at the Ambassador's Residence, where H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács and Colonel Gábor Erbán, Defense, Military and Air Attaché of the Embassy, welcomed the Ambassadors and members of the Corps Diplomatique and the Military Attaché Community accredited to Brussels.
In the framework of the Hungarian V4 Presidency, a scientific conference was held about the two mini-lateral formats - the Visegrád Four Cooperation and the Benelux Union - at the prestigious Egmont Palace. After the opening speech of Mr. François Roux, senior advisor of Egmont Institute and Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács, the panelists focused on why these two formats are successful, what are the possible challenges they must face in the new European power balance, and how the members of these groups can enhance cooperation with other Member States.
On 8 May, Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács discussed with Attila József Prize-winning poet Dániel Varró at the end of a sold-out poetry reading event at the Liszt Institute Brussels.
At the Honorary Consulate in Antwerp, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács presented the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary to Ms. Julie Bynens, Secretary-General of the Flanders Chancellery and Department of Foreign Affairs for her outstanding contribution to the Hungarian-Flemish bilateral relations.

H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács represented Hungary at the annual commemoration organized by the FORUM of Jewish Organizations (Joodse Forum) in Antwerp on the occasion of “Commemoration of the Genocide committed by Nazi Germany” in the company of Minister of Interior Annelies Verlinden and Mayor Bart De Wever. Candles were lit and wreaths laid during the ceremony at the monument erected by the FORUM on the corner of Belgiëlei and Mercatorstraat.

Johan Thijs, CEO of K&H-owner KBC Bank was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Hungarian-Belgian economic relations. The award was presented by H.E. Ambassador Iván Tamás Kovács on 5 May 2022 in the framework of the Flemish-Hungarian Business Reception at the Honorary Consulate in Antwerp.
5 May 2022, a Flemish-Hungarian Business Reception was held at the Honorary Consulate of Hungary in Antwerp, organised by the Foreign Economic Office of the Embassy of Hungary in Brussels. The aim of the event was strengthening Flemish-Hungarian economic relations and exploring new opportunities. During the event, H.E. Ambassador dr. Tamás Iván Kovács presented the investment opportunities, trade and export figures in Hungary for 2021.
