Summer Concert in Auderghem
On 15 June 2022, the Hungarian Economic Club in Brussels was organized jointly by the Embassy's Foreign Economic Office and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Liszt Institute. The event was opened by H.E. Ambassador dr. Tamás Iván Kovács. The theme of the evening was the current issues and economic aspects of the EU enlargement. In the framework of the programme, Olivér Várhelyi, EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Policy presented his thoughts, and Attila Galambos President of the Hungarian Chambers, Dr. Kristóf Szabó CEO of HEPA, Andor Deli MEP and Dr. Gábor Baranyai Deputy Permanent Representative to the participated in the panel discussion.
H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács received at the Embassy of Hungary in Brussels a delegation of the Hungarian Fulbright alumni, to whom he provided information on the current objectives of the Hungarian foreign policy and the work of the Embassy.
H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács had the honor to host H.E. Mr. Theo Francken and H.E. Mr. Michael Freilich, members of the Belgian Federal Parliament, the Brussels V4 Ambassadors and Mr. Ari Epstein, Honorary Consul of Hungary in Flanders at his residence. He also provided his partners detailed information about the achievements of the Hungarian V4 Presidency.
H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács presented the Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit State Award to Ms. Hedwig Gerits, Hungarian language teacher in Flanders for her dedicated work. The colleagues of the Embassy of Hungary wish you a lot of continuing success in teaching Hungarian language in Belgium!
On 7 June, Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács presented the Golden Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit to Carl Van Eyndhoven, president of the Béla Bartók Archive in Belgium, in recognition of his dedicated work in promoting Hungarian music culture, the Bartók and Kodály traditions in Belgium.
H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács had the honour to host at his residence Mr. Stéphan Sonneville, CEO of real estate developer and construction company ATENOR, with whom he had an excellent discussion about ATENOR’s successful development projects in Hungary.
4th of June is the Day of National Unity in Hungary. The Embassy has celebrated the day of the Hungarian communities at two special events. We greeted our two new compatriots at the ceremony of oath of citizenship. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács said that by the oath of citizenship, the feeling of being Hungarian turns into a legal status. At the Residence the Ambassador gave a reception for Hungarian community leaders and teachers working in Belgium, who do a lot for maintaining the national identity.
H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács attended the Heads of Mission working lunch organized in the framework of the French EU Presidency where the guest of honor was H.E. Mr. Claude Turmes, Minister for Energy and Spatial Planning of Luxembourg.
