On 14 October, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács attended an EU Heads of Mission lunch organised in Luxembourg within the framework of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event, that had as guest of honour H.E. Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxembourg, provided a great opportunity to discuss the war in Ukraine and review the state of the European economy, along with global challenges related to energy and inflation.
On 19 October, the Embassy's Foreign Economic Office organised a Hungarian-Belgian business forum on electromobility and alternative drive systems. Amongst the Hungarian participants, ZalaZone, Majosz, the Hungarian Drone Coalition and the Hungarian Battery Association presented themselves to Belgian companies,research institutions and universities. The participants were welcomed by H.E. Ambassador dr. Tamás Iván Kovács and Dorottya Bősze, Commercial and Trade Attaché.
Ms. Gabriella Nagy, Hungarian community diplomat attended the commemoration organized on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight by the Munkácsy Association in Luxemburg. It was an honorable and uplifting feeling to commemorate this important historical event together with the Hungarian community in Luxemburg.
On 10 October, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács attended the EU Heads of Mission breakfast organised within the framework of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event had as guest of honour Mr. Pierre Wunsch, Governor of the National Bank of Belgium, and provided an excellent opportunity to review the state of the Belgian economy, along with global challenges related to energy and inflation.
On 4 October, during his official visit to Luxembourg, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács held talks with Mr. Alexander Flassak, CEO ad interim of lux-Airport. Ms. Petra Emmerlich, Head of Retail and Business Development of lux-Airport and dr. Andrea Hanzséros, our Chargé d’Affaires in Luxembourg also joined the meeting.
Ms. Gabriella Nagy, Hungarian community diplomat of the Embassy visited the Banneux Notre-Dame and the wooden cross placed there in the memory of the Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight. She also met with the members of the Hungarian community of Liège.
Our Honorary Consul General Jean Ries (Luxembourg), and Honorary Consuls René Branders (Wallonia) and Ari Epstein (Flanders) have paid a visit to the Embassy at the occasion of the Honorary Consuls Day. The Honorary Consuls are highly active in enhancing the bilateral economic relations. They were updated on the work and plans of the Embassy.
On 8 September, H.E. Judit Varga, Minister of Justice of Hungary had an excellent and extensive consultation with H.E. Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Belgium.
H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács hosted at his residence Mr. Pascal Smet, Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region, responsible for Urbanism and Heritage, European and International Relations, Foreign Trade and Fire fighting and Emergency medical Assistance.
