The Government of Hungary submitted the candidacy of ambassador Zoltán KÁLMÁN to the
position of Independent Chairperson of the Council (ICC) of the Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO). With 15 years of working with FAO in Rome as Permanent Representative
of Hungary, Ambassador KÁLMÁN gained specific knowledge and experience in multilateral
diplomacy in the fields of food security and nutrition, shifting to sustainable food systems and
related environmental and socio-economic issues. Mr. Zoltán KÁLMÁN’s extensive
professional background, as well as his experience, such as being the President of the World
Food Programme Executive Board enable him to be an excellent candidate for the post.
