Commemoration of 1956 in Brussels

Since 1957, it has been a well-established tradition in Brussels that each year, together with the Hungarian Community, we remember the heroes of the Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight of 1956. This year the commemoration took place in full compliance with the epidemiological measures and with the support of the Brussels Police. After the commemorative mass in the St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral, Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács delivered a commemorative speech and laid a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier with Ambassador Zoltán Nagy, Permanent Representative of Hungary to NATO and PSC Ambassador Bálint Ódor.

Travelling to Hungary

Based on the decision of the Hungarian National Assembly the Hungarian Government has terminated the State of Emergency on 18th of June. As a result, from 18th of June Hungarian citizens, the citizens of the European Union and of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Serbia can enter into the territory of Hungary without any restriction and quarantine requirement (not valid for citizens of the UK). The same applies for third country citizens, who are family members of the categories of citizens mentioned above.
