Consular hours at the end of the year

Happy Chanoeka!

Hanukkah is the festival of lights that has been celebrated in many ways at Budapest during the last decades, from public candle lighting to festivals. However, these festives cannot be held this year, yet it is important that we find the way to each other, even in the form of a short message. Ambassador's viist at Samsonite

On the 1st of December, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács visited the headquarters of Samsonite Europe in Oudenaarde, where he had a meeting with Mr. Luc Roesems, Vice President of Manufacturing. One of the largest production lines of the world-famous suitcase company is located in Szekszárd, Hungary. Thus, the indication “Made in Europe” on the suitcases actually means “Made in Hungary”.

Ambassadors' videoconference with Minister-President Jan Jambon

Videoconference under the aegis of the German EU Presidency with the participation of the Ambassadors of EU Member States in Brussels. The guest of honour was Jan Jambon, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders. The discussion focused on the epidemiological situation and the challenges Flanders is facing with. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács also joined the virtual event.

We celebrated the birthday of Father István Havas

Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács hosted a lunch in honour of the 70th birthday of Piarist Father, István Havas. We are grateful for his dedicated and tireless work both in the service of God and for the Hungarian Community in Belgium and Luxembourg. God bless Father Havas!

Commemoration of 1956 in Brussels

Since 1957, it has been a well-established tradition in Brussels that each year, together with the Hungarian Community, we remember the heroes of the Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight of 1956. This year the commemoration took place in full compliance with the epidemiological measures and with the support of the Brussels Police. After the commemorative mass in the St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral, Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács delivered a commemorative speech and laid a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier with Ambassador Zoltán Nagy, Permanent Representative of Hungary to NATO and PSC Ambassador Bálint Ódor.
