On 9 May, our Embassy’s Luxembourg Office together with our Cultural Service, Liszt Institute Brussels represented Hungary at the Europe Day event organised by the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg. We were pleased to welcome all the interested public at our tent, including Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxembourg.

On 3 May, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács had a meeting with Mr. Jean-Louis Thill, Director for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg. After exchanging views on current EU and bilateral dossiers, they discussed the preparations for the upcoming Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the diplomatic centennial between Hungary and Luxembourg, both due in 2024.

On 25 April, H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács held talks with Mr. Ghislain D’hoop, Deputy Head of Directorate General for Multilateral Affairs and Globalisation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium. They discussed the upcoming crucial Belgian-Hungarian EU Presidency year of 2024 and our recently completed diplomatic centennial.

A Flemish business delegation of 18 people visited the Hungarian Embassy in Brussels on 21 April, courtesy of the Flemish Chamber of Commerce and Industry VOKA West-Flanders and the Flanders Investment and Trade Agency. The aim of the programme was to prepare the delegation for their business trip to Hungary in May. H.E. Ambassador Iván dr. Tamás Iván Kovács and Dorottya Bősze, Head of Commercial Section, welcomed the participants.

On 18 March the renowned Budapest Festival Orchestra performed at Philharmonie Luxembourg. The Embassy of Hungary in Brussels was represented by our Chargé d'affaires, Ms. Andrea Hanzséros, Head of our Luxembourg Office, who also personally greeted Maestro Iván Fischer.

On the occasion of the Memorial Day of the Hungarian Victims of the Holocaust, the Embassy of Hungary in Brussels organized a commemoration in the Liszt Institute, where H.E. Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács delivered the keynote speech. The music was provided by Mr. Tamás Zsári during the commemoration and it was followed by the screening of the award-winning documentary Granny Project.

On 18 April, the Organizing Director of the Belgian Volleyball Federation, Geert De Dobbeleer, and David Steegen, Head of Communications and Media, visited the Hungarian Embassy in Brussels, where they had a meeting with H.E. Ambassador dr. Tamás Iván Kovács and Dorottya Bősze, Head of the Commercial Section. We are delighted to be preparing together for the European Women's Volleyball Championship in Ghent in August, where the Belgian Yellow Tigers will compete against the Hungarian Volleyball Federation women's team.

On 21st of March, Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács participated at the inauguration ceremony of the Hungarian public media (MTVA) Brussels Correspondent Center. In his speech, the Ambassador stressed that the permanent presence of the public media is highly important in the city that is a political, cultural and a news hub. The European public’s interest towards Hungary, and the Hungarian public‘s interest towards Brussels events will be further enhanced during the approaching Hungarian EU Presidency.
