On the occasion of the anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848-49, this year we also paid tribute to the heroes of that era. Following previous traditions and respecting the epidemiological measures, Ambassador Tamás Iván Kovács with PSC Ambassador Bálint Ódor laid a wreath of remembrance at the monument of the mother of Lajos Kossuth in Brussels.

Each year on 15 March, our Embassy and the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Brussels, together with the local Hungarian community, commemorate Baron Miklós Jósika, who emigrated to Brussels in 1849, fleeing in fear of retaliation. Ambassador Tamás Iván
Kovács and Zsófia Vitézy, Director of the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Brussels, laid a wreath on the commemorative plaque on the wall of the former house of the Baron. Today, the building functions as a Flemish cultural center.
